When it comes to learning and academic success in college, there's no one-size-fits-all strategy. Everyone has unique strengths, talents, and needs. At the Academic Success Center, we believe in each student's ability to set goals and decide their best path towards achieving those goals. The ASC includes many services, including drop-in Strategist support, Academic Coaching, Supplemental Instruction (group study tables), workshops, ALS 116: Academic Success (2-credit course), and our online Learning Corner.

Strategists are student employees who support OSU students' academics by...

  • answering questions
  • sharing learning strategies and tools
  • connecting students to relevant campus resources
  • helping students communicate with faculty and fellow students

Strategists have in-person conversations with visitors, chat with folks via live chat on our website, and answer phone calls and emails. Each Strategist works in the Academic Success Center drop-in space on the 3rd floor of the Valley Library for approximately 6-12 hours per week depending on their schedule and desired work hours.

Support and Compensation: Strategists' wages start at $15.55 per hour, and they receive annual pay increases. Strategists receive paid training before starting the role, attend paid weekly staff meetings, and engage in routine reflection and feedback to further develop transferrable skills throughout their employment.
