Oregon Water Services is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Wastewater Service & Maintenance Technician. Every day is different as you travel to residential and commercial properties to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair onsite wastewater systems that protect public health and the environment.

Whether you have experience in plumbing, construction, maintenance, or another skilled trade, we'll provide the training you need to succeed. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in quality work, values safety, and provides excellent service to our customers.

Essential functions

  • Maintain log of operations and meter readings
  • Inspect all components of onsite wastewater systems to ensure appropriate and efficient operation.
  • Make plumbing repairs related to all operational parts of wastewater systems
  • Cleaning and testing components including, but not limited to, pumps, tanks, floats, bio-filters, and distribution piping.
  • Collect effluent samples from wastewater systems and deliver to local laboratory for required testing
  • Work with the internal team on service calls and projects
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Work environment

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical demands

  • Able to regularly lift up to 60 lbs
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Regularly required to sit; climb or balance and talk or hear

Travel required

  • Travel to and from job sites within 100 miles of facility

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); OR
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred education and experience

  • DEQ Maintenance Provider Certification or Grade 1 DEQ Certification preferred
  • Some plumbing skills recommended

Certification/Licensing requirements

  • Must maintain a clean motor vehicle record
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
