Department Summary
The Department of Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) offers bachelor’s degrees in five professional programs which encompass the spectrum of imaging sciences. The curriculum of each bachelor’s degree program provides the technical, scientific, and communication skills essential for the application of learned concepts. Each program prepares students for their final eleven-month clinical externship at one of the many affiliated healthcare facilities across the nation, maximizing the application of learning in the classroom to their field of study.

Position Summary
The Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) department at Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) seeks applicants for a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Medical Imaging.

Oregon Tech is a public university located in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Klamath Falls is located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in southern Oregon and is known as Oregon’s City of Sunshine. It is widely recognized for its remarkable mountain and lake scenery, including Crater Lake National Park and year-round outdoor recreation opportunities. Klamath Falls is a small but vibrant town rich with arts and culture, downtown eateries, and craft breweries.

The MIT department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in five modalities: Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiologic Science, and Vascular Technology. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Echocardiography and Vascular Technology modalities are CAAHEP accredited. All modalities emphasize student-centered instruction oriented towards professional success. Facilities provide state-of-the-art imaging equipment, labs, simulators, and the latest technology to prepare learners to be leaders in the field. The medical imaging faculty are an amazing team and part of a tradition of excellence at Oregon Tech.

The MIT department has faculty openings in four modalities. The Radiologic Science program seeks applicants with registries in CT, MRI and/or Interventional radiography. The Nuclear Medicine program seeks applicants holding certification in Nuclear Medicine from the ARRT or NMTCB. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program seeks applicants with registries in breast, musculoskeletal, pediatrics and fetal echo. The Echocardiography program seeks applicants with registries in adult and pediatric echo.

The primary focus of all faculty positions in the MIT department is on excellent teaching at the bachelor’s level. The successful candidate’s instructional responsibilities will include a variety of core courses in one of the modalities depending upon certification/credentials, and experience. Faculty are expected to advise students, improve courses through continuous assessment, and adjust content to reflect current workforce trends.

Tenure-track faculty must establish a scholarly record and meet all tenure requirements. Scholarship at Oregon Tech takes a variety of forms, including but not limited to applied research that engages students, conference presentations to disseminate best practices or field experience, or authorship of peer-reviewed publications. Faculty are expected to participate in institutional (department and university) and professional service. Faculty will pursue professional development to stay current in the discipline and enhance instructional practices.

REQUIREMENTS
The position requires a master’s degree in medical imaging, higher education, or related field with a bachelor’s degree in a medical imaging modality. Doctorate degree is preferred.

Applicants should have current certification/credentials and minimum of five years of related occupational work experience. Applicants should have teaching experience at the college level and/or in industry training experience, and ability to establish a (or established) record of scholarly activities. Applicants should indicate modality preferred based upon certification/credentials, and experience in their cover letter.

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Medical Imaging, Higher Education, or related field with a Bachelor’s degree in a Medical Imaging modality or related field.
  • Current Certification/Credentials
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related occupational work experience.
  • Teaching Experience at the college level and/or industry training experience.
  • The ability to establish a (or established) record of scholarly activities.
  • Indicate modality preferred, based upon certifications/credentials in cover letter.

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
