Oregon SurgiCenter has a per diem Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) opportunity available.
Oregon Urology Institute and Oregon SurgiCenter is one of the largest, most advanced urological centers in the Northwest. Oregon Urology Institute provides patients with some of the region's finest medical experts covering every major urological specialty using proven and leading-edge technologies. Oregon SurgiCenter is an outpatient surgery center devoted to urologic procedures.
The Certified Surgical Technologist (Scrub Tech) is responsible for maintaining instruments and equipment in an optimal fashion. Also responsible for preparing instrumentation, sterile supplies and OR and RR equipment for the surgical patient and the surgery center's physicians.
Duties:
- Functions as a scrub technician in the Operating Room.
- Assists with gowning and gloving other members of the surgical team.
- Assists with the preparation of the Operating Room for surgical procedures.
- Assists with skin preparations and with draping of patients.
- Assists with care, preparation, maintenance and after-care of sterile and unsterile supplies and equipment.
- Knows and practices the principles and techniques of sterile technique.
- Handles specimens in accordance with procedures.
- Removes drapes at end of procedure, cleanses the patient of prep solution and applies dressing as needed.
- Cleans instruments and equipment after use and returns it to proper area for storage or processing.
- Differentiates sterilization methods required for specific instruments and equipment.
- Assists with stocking, replenishing and preparation of supplies.
- Assists with housekeeping duties as necessary to provide a safe environment.
- Participates in sponge, instrument and needle count with the circulating nurse as deemed necessary
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current CST certification.
- Current BLS certification.
Experience:
- 2 years of Urology experience, preferred.
- Knowledge in fundamentals of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and maintenance and care of equipment.
- Basic knowledge of surgical procedures needs and steps in use of materials.
Position Requirements:
- Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians.
- Maintains Certification in CPR.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Possesses strong initiative to get daily work finished and processed.
- Has the ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other staff members.
- Follows HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality.
All candidates must pass a drug screen, reference, and background check to be considered for employment.
This is a per diem position. No nights, weekends, or on-call.
