Job Summary
The Adult & Higher Education ( AHE ) program within the College of Education at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time, (1.00 FTE ) 9-month, fixed-term (non-tenure-track), Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Teaching position. This is a one-year, contingent faculty position, renewable annually with the possibility of extension for an additional 2 years.
This is an instructional position and will begin September 16, 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Appointment at the Assistant Professor of Teaching rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the appointee.
The purpose of this visiting faculty position is to provide compelling instruction in online EdM and hybrid EdD courses, support AHE doctoral candidates by advising on their applied dissertation projects and serving on student committees, develop curriculum in a newly redesigned EdM program, and conduct research and other scholarly activities in the field(s) of higher education and/or adult education. In addition, this position carries an expectation of service to the AHE program in furthering its objectives.

Key Responsibilities
80% Teaching, Advising, & Other Assigned Duties:
Engage in scholarship activities that contribute to effective educational program delivery and practical research application (e.g., program innovation, professional case or policy reports, invited presentations, advising government agencies or professional groups).
10% Service:
Provide collegial and constructive service to Adult and Higher Education, College of Education, University, and professional organizations related to higher education and/or adult education.
What You Will Need
Typical work schedule includes Monday through Friday hours with some non-standard evening and weekend work and/or travel. Attendance at quarterly faculty meetings and college events may be required. Meetings with supervisor are required.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise and mentor graduate students on applied dissertation of practice projects
- Serve on doctoral committees
- Teach courses in doctoral and/or Master’s program. Courses are expected to promote experiential learning and success of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop curriculum for the newly designed EdM program
Engage in scholarship activities that contribute to effective educational program delivery and practical research application (e.g., program innovation, professional case or policy reports, invited presentations, advising government agencies or professional groups).
10% Service:
Provide collegial and constructive service to Adult and Higher Education, College of Education, University, and professional organizations related to higher education and/or adult education.
What You Will Need
- Earned doctorate in higher education, educational leadership, adult education or a closely related field.
- At least three years of experience teaching Master’s and/or doctoral level adult education, higher education, and/or student affairs courses as the instructor of record.
- Demonstrated ability to advise Ed.D. students on applied dissertation of practice projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum in adult education, higher education and/or student affairs.
- Demonstrated record of working with underrepresented groups, students, and/or faculty including those who are racial/ethnic minority, first-generation, low socioeconomic status, disabled, or otherwise face access barriers in higher education
- High level of effectiveness in teaching and mentoring as assigned;
- High level of effectiveness in the application of curricular design and development or pedagogical strategies and practices;
- Achievement in scholarship and creative activity that contributes to pedagogical advances or advances in the candidate’s field(s) of expertise;
- Appropriate level and balance of institutional and professional service.
- Experience teaching in an executive Ed.D. program
- Experience advising or serving on committees for Ed.D. students completing applied dissertation of practice projects
- Experience teaching and developing courses using blended technologies and formats (e.g., hybrid, online).
- Given the College and Program’s values and commitments, preference will be given to applicants who have the potential to contribute to understanding and alleviating structural inequities in higher education through their advising, teaching, research, and service.
