Job Summary

The Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Science ( FWCS ) invites applications for one or more fixed-term, non-tenure-track full/part-time Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2025-2026 academic year. Some of these appointments may be reviewed for renewal or transition to an instructional position on an annual basis at the discretion of the Department Head.

Applications will be considered throughout the 2025-2026 academic year and fall term 2026 as opportunities become available.

Instructors may be needed to teach any of the regularly offered courses in the FWCS undergraduate curriculum and occasional graduate courses. These courses may be on-campus courses or via Ecampus.

FWCS is an academic unit that reports to the College of Agricultural Sciences. The department is composed of approximately 300 staff – including academic faculty, research assistants, classified staff, graduate students, and temporary staff. We are a vibrant department that promotes a supportive “family” atmosphere for all students and employees.

The mission of the department is to discover, integrate and disseminate knowledge about wildlife and fisheries resources, as well as ecosystems and human communities with which they interrelate. It accomplishes this through an interconnected program of 1) undergraduate and graduate education 2) scholarly research and 3) extended education.

Our faculty are dedicated to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

90% Teach Courses (classes will vary on a term-by-term basis) Some courses will include driving state and/or federal vehicles to sites for instruction in field research protocols.

5% Curriculum Development Review current curriculum to update and develop new curriculum for either new offerings or change curriculum of current courses to allow for distance education delivery.

5% Supervision Supervise a graduate teaching assistant for some courses, to include planning, assigning and approving work.

What You Will Need

M.A./M.S. in fisheries, wildlife, biological, environmental science, or related field.

Teaching experience at the college or university level.

Demonstrated ability to design, teach and assess courses that support inclusive learning principles and promote equitable teaching practices, to the benefit of all learners.

This position MAY require driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

This position MAY be designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
