What are the responsibilities and job description for the Alumni Center Events Technician position at Oregon State University Foundation?
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Alumni Center Director, this position provides event and facility support to the CH2M HILL Alumni Center.
Major Duties
- Help set up and monitor events in the CH2M HILL Alumni Center, including physical setting up of structures, preparing room reservations, preparing conference rooms, etc. Adjust room reservation and event equipment to specifications. After events, help put away structures and equipment, and clean up the facility.
- Monitor and respond to event activities, including equipment needs, catering services, and facility security.
- Help set up, monitor, operate, and troubleshoot event and facility equipment, including audio equipment, video equipment, computers, etc. Align, adjust, or calibrate equipment according to specifications.
- Provide customer service to clients, colleagues, and visitors by telephone or in person before and during events to ensure event’s success.
- Perform or assist with general facility maintenance. Maintain, organize, and track storage areas.
- Ensure event and facility equipment is organized and in working order.
- Lead a team of student event workers, including overseeing work and assigning work in the absence of the Alumni Center Sr. Event Technician.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey detailed information and instructions.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accurate and efficient event execution.
- Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment in support of meetings and events.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and creating positive experiences for guests and stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, including leading and coordinating student event staff.
- Proven flexibility and responsiveness when managing urgent or unexpected requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Sound judgment, proactive problem-solving skills, and professionalism in all interactions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
Associate degree and three years of events-related hands-on experience executing the operational nature of events in the hospitality industry, or a related field. Experience supervising and coordinating a student workforce.
