Oregon Human Development Corporation (OHDC) is a culturally specific community action nonprofit that has been providing workforce development, emergency housing assistance, and associated services for farmworkers throughout Oregon since 1979. These services include support, referral, advocacy, resources, assistance, and education in both Oregon and Northern Nevada.
REGIONAL COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER I OVERVIEW
The Regional Community Health Worker I (Regional CHW I) will be responsible for connecting the local farmworker community to support services across the areas of housing assistance, skills development, job training, climate resiliency, nutrition support, etc. Examples of duties include conducting comprehensive needs assessments, determining eligibility for OHDC programs, identifying local resources which could provide support, and conducting closed-loop referrals to local resources.
This position will advance OHDC’s mission by using their uniquely close understanding of the farmworker community to connect farmworkers and their families to culturally responsive supports to stabilize housing, learn new skills for professional advancement, and connect to local organizations providing other vital services.
The Regional CHW I will be stationed in OHDC’s Woodburn office, with a service area targeting outreach and intake services (remote and direct) along the central and northern Oregon coast, southern Oregon (Medford/Grants Pass), and central Oregon. This position will take leadership in one focus area (workforce development) within their service area and support other focus areas (housing and energy assistance). They will support all focus areas in organizing, conducting, and participating in local outreach.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build a trusting relationship with OHDC clients
- Assess needs for each client, documenting key data in software tools as required
- Identify health-related social needs across various domains like language, skills, and job training gaps
- Maintain proficiency in the primary focus area (workforce development), such as conducting client intakes, training, and follow-ups
- Refer clients to local Community Based Organizations (CBOs) as needed
- Act on referrals received by OHDC to connect new clients to services facilitated directly by OHDC CHWs, including housing/utilities assistance, job/skills training, and job placement
- As directed by the District Manager, participate remotely and in-person in service area forums, meetings, and conferences related to Community-Based Organizations (CBO) work, farmworker advocacy, Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) coverage, and focus areas
- Fulfill program requirements and goals
- Conduct the outreach and education events of the service district, including regional travel and supporting local events of the Woodburn office as necessary
- Propose, plan, host, document, manage vendors and partners, and conduct follow-up for outreach and education events, including regional travel

- Perform other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- A motivated, resourceful, supportive advocate for human services programs and participants, with knowledge of farmworker issues
- An effective communicator, active listener, and sharer of ideas
- Highly collaborative and well-organized
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Proficient in Microsoft 365
- Valid driver’s license and current insurance, with access to reliable transportation for travel throughout the service area
- Community Health Worker (CHW) certification within 6 months of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Lived experience in the farmworker community
- 2 years of experience as a CHW, in human services, or associate’s degree in a related field
- Understanding of office administration operations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- Travel: 25%, with the possibility of some overnight stays
- Job Type: Full-time hourly 40-hour employee, eligible for overtime
- Supervisor: District Manager for the Woodburn, Hillsboro, and Gresham offices
- Starting Pay: $23.49 - $25.49 per hour, or $24.49 - $25.49 per hour with CHW certification
- Pay Range: CHW I pay band, $23.49 - $27.48 per hour ($48,859 - $57,158 per year)
