The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, known as one of the pioneers in personalized cancer medicine, is an international leader in research and cancer treatment. Function/Duties of Position
This position supports the lab of Dr. Olga Nikolova in Knight Data Sciences. Under direct supervision, the incumbent will assist with analytics, follow standards for software development, build common code repository, and attend regular meetings. Hands-on experience with machine learning is required.
Duties Include:
- Extend existing and develop novel analytics
- Follow standards for software development, including requirements, design, test, configuration, and project management
- Work with team members to build common code repository and continuous integration processes
- Attend regular meeting and seminar series
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in any field OR Associate's AND 2 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
- Hands-on experience with machine learning applications
- Computing experience in a Unix/Linux environment and cloud services
- Experience with R or python, code version control platforms such as git
- Communications, analytical and organizational skills, both written and verbal. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills: both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- A passion for developing machine learning applications for cancer biology
- Interest in genomics and multi-omic approaches
- Experience with transfer learning techniques, random forest, feature selection, regression, support vector machines
- Experience in a professional, team-oriented software development environment
- Collaborative approach to resolving problems
