What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator (Slurry) position at Oregon Fruit Company?
Job Overview
At Oregon Fruit Company, precision meets passion on the production floor. As a Slurry Operator, you are at the heart of what makes our fruit products exceptional — responsible for crafting the high-quality slurry that forms the base of every blend we produce. This is hands-on, detail-driven work where your accuracy and initiative directly shape the product that reaches customers nationwide.
What you will do
- Measure and mix sugar, water, and other ingredients to precise formula specifications — your accuracy is what keeps the production line running smoothly.
- Check brix levels, verify product pathways, and maintain slurry supply so the line never skips a beat.
- Keep meticulous records of ingredient usage, lot information, and control data for every batch.
- Coordinate with leads, QC, and supply drivers to anticipate needs before they become problems.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper storage and pump-out procedures at shift's end.
- Monitor equipment in real time and flag any issues immediately — your eyes and ears keep quality high.
What we are looking for
You are someone who takes pride in doing things right the first time. Comfortable working with fractions, decimals, and a touchscreen data terminal, you thrive in an environment where routine and rigor go hand in hand. A proactive communicator and reliable team player, you show up ready and do not wait to be told what needs doing next.
- Solid working knowledge of basic math — fractions, decimals, and measurements are your daily tools.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and operate drum dollies or cranes for drums up to 650 lbs.
- Comfort navigating a touchscreen terminal for data entry and batch tracking.
- Strong attention to detail and the instinct to speak up when something looks off.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills are a plus, but not required.
You will work in a food manufacturing facility where safety and quality standards are non-negotiable. Hearing protection, hair and beard nets, and lab coats are required. If you are the kind of person who finds satisfaction in a well-run operation and a product worth being proud of, this is the team for you!
