Oregon Children’s Theatre is coming out of a reflective and strategic planning period and is now reimagining the future of OCT programming for the children and families across the region. As OCT builds back a core administrative leadership team, it is essential that we identify individuals who are prepared to reimagine and rebuild the next chapter of arts education programming alongside OCT Leadership!


Position Overview

Oregon Children’s Theatre is seeking a full-time Education Manager to provide administrative support for all Education programming at OCT. The Education Manager serves as a key associate in the planning, coordination, and the execution of OCT’s educational programs. This role oversees the administration and growth of classes, camps, and school partnerships, ensuring high-quality arts education experiences for students of all ages. The Education Manager acts as a central liaison between teaching artists, families, schools, and leadership while supporting the organization’s broader mission through strong program management and community engagement.


Primary Responsibilities

Educational Program Management & Operations:

  • Oversee daily administrative operations for Acting Academy, In-School Residencies, and all other educational programs.
  • Manage program calendars, registration systems, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate teaching artist hiring, training and assignments.
  • Serve as operational support during all Acting Academy programming, including Summer Camps, providing oversight of daily activities and coverage as needed.


School Programs

  • Develop and maintain relationships with schools, districts, and community organizations.
  • Serve as the primary contact for school-based programs, residencies, and teacher professional development.
  • Maintain and grow databases of school and community contacts.


Program Communication 

  • Manage communication with all stakeholders for all programs, especially families and participants regarding schedules, updates, and program information.
  • Oversee program-related email inboxes and ensure timely, clear communication.
  • Work closely with Administrative Associate to maintain clear and clean education data.


Financial & Administrative Support 

  • Manage the education budget with support from the Leadership team.
  • Work with the Admin Department on invoicing, payment tracking, reconciliation for educational programs, and awarding scholarships.


Leadership and Collaboration 

  • Participate in planning discussions as the education programming evolves.
  • Remain flexible ad open as Artistic and Executive leadership reimagine and align educational programming with organizational goals.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Director for all education related marketing assets, program sales, and tracking.
  • Attend staff meetings, performances, and key events as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational needs.


Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of management experience in arts education, theatre administration, program management, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear, professional communication skills, particularly with families and teaching staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules, systems, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Comfortable supervising contractors or teaching artists and handling payroll-related approvals.
  • Availability to work daytime hours, evenings and weekends when needed, with occasional early mornings or extended days during camp season.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook Office Suite, Sawyer Registration Platform, Gusto, Neon One: Nonprofit CRM, Monday, Zoom, both PC and Apple products. 
  • An understanding of the Portland Metro Arts Education eco-system.


Additional Information

The Education Manager is a hybrid role. This position requires a candidate who can successfully work independently as well as travel to various locations in the Portland metro area and surrounding communities. Therefore, the candidate must have reliable internet access and reliable transportation.


OCT requires all employees who will be working with minor children to submit to and successfully pass a criminal background check. OCT clients may have additional background check requirements to which OCT and employees will adhere.


Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary range of $45,000–$50,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include:
