The Springs Resort & Spa is seeking an energetic and guest-focused Part Time Bartender/Walker to join our poolside beverage team in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Nestled within the world-renowned healing waters of the San Juan River, The Springs Resort & Spa offers guests an unmatched soak-day experience across our 25 geothermal pools. Our poolside beverage program is a core part of that experience — delivering handcrafted cocktails, mocktails, and refreshments directly to guests as they relax and recharge. This part-time, dual-function role combines the craft of bartending with the guest-facing energy of tableside drink delivery, making it ideal for someone who thrives on both the art of the pour and the joy of personal service.
Your Future Career
Bartending & Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, and specialty drinks according to resort recipes and standards.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and fully stocked bar throughout each shift.
- Monitor guest consumption and comply with all responsible alcohol service guidelines (TIPS/RBS certification preferred or willingness to obtain).
- Follow portioning, presentation, and consistency standards on all beverages.
- Communicate inventory shortages, product quality issues, or equipment concerns to leadership promptly.
Poolside Delivery (Walker)
- Transport and deliver beverage orders to guests throughout the pool grounds in a timely and attentive manner.
- Navigate poolside terrain safely while carrying drink trays, ensuring accuracy and care with every delivery.
- Provide warm, personalized service during delivery interactions — answer questions about the menu and make thoughtful recommendations.
- Maintain awareness of guest needs throughout their visit, proactively checking in and anticipating refill or reorder opportunities.
- Coordinate closely with bar staff to ensure order accuracy and efficient ticket flow.
Guest Service & Experience
- Greet guests warmly and represent The Springs' commitment to hospitality-driven, wellness-focused service.
- Support a seamless, relaxed pool environment through timely service and consistent attention to detail.
- Handle guest concerns or special requests professionally and with care, escalating to leadership when appropriate.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere across all poolside outlets.
Cleanliness & Sanitation
- Maintain a clean and organized bar station and delivery service areas throughout all shifts.
- Follow all food and beverage safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize glassware, tools, and equipment regularly.
- Ensure poolside service areas and delivery paths remain safe, tidy, and guest-ready at all times.
Operational Support
- Accurately process transactions using the POS system, including split checks, tabs, and cash handling.
- Restock bar supplies and assist with inventory management throughout each shift.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures including setup, breakdown, and end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Support additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous bartending, bar-back, or beverage service experience preferred.
- TIPS, RBS, or equivalent responsible alcohol service certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication and guest service skills with a personable, outgoing demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-traffic, outdoor resort environment.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and peak seasons.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout a shift on poolside terrain.
- Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, or carry items up to approximately 40 pounds, including loaded drink trays.
- Ability to work in a warm, outdoor environment with exposure to sun, steam, and varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, beverage preparation tools, and poolside conditions.
- Ability to maintain focus, balance, and professionalism during high-traffic periods.
