Position Summary:
Within the framework of the agency’s mission, policies, procedures and resources, the accountant is responsible for:
· Working as a member of the accounting team to ensure accurate, timely completion and recording of the organization’s financial activities/transactions and journal entries (i.e. cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.).
· Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
· Playing an integral role in the annual and monthly closing process.
· Working in all entity-utilized financial applications (i.e. general ledger and supplemental database systems), to obtain/produce required financial reports and to perform related procedures and analysis as needed.
· Collaborating with management to understand the entity’s goals, strategies, and operations to ensure effective utilization of resources.
· Participating in special projects as requested.
· Providing financial analysis and project management within the Accounting Department as well as organizational wide.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business field highly preferred.
2. Must have a solid understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), and accrual-based accounting.
3. Three to five (3 -5 years) practical accounting experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and balance sheet reconciliations (i.e. cash, prepaids, AR, etc.).
4. Must possess aptitude to expediently grasp and apply general business and accounting principles, concepts, and fundamentals to the organization’s operational and financial reporting routines.
5. Able to independently completely all duties assigned in accordance with scheduled deadlines on a consistent basis.
6. Able to identify and solve problems. Specifically, possesses the ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in the development and implementation of related efficiencies.
7. Experience in not-for-profit accounting preferred.
8. Intermediate to advanced technical aptitude/computer skills with experience using various financial applications (i.e. MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
9. Experience with Microsoft/GP Dynamics preferred, but not required.
10. Effective communication skills (written and verbal); able to convey accounting information in easy-to-understand terms; effectively relate with management and peers; and have active listening skills.
11. Work effectively with a wide range of skilled staff. Good interpersonal skills, excellent work ethic, customer focus, analytical and organizational skills with sharp attention to detail.
12. Proven ability to meet critical deadlines with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities at once.

14. Valid operator’s license, available car, continuously in-effect auto insurance and a safe driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
