Job Title: Visitation Coach

Program: Foster Care Supportive Visitation (FCSV)

Reports To: FCSV Supervisor

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling psychology, or related area.
  • A Minimum of 1 year of field experience working with multi-problem families.
  • Proof of completion of a training program, from a certified Nurturing Parenting Training, that teaches the philosophy of Nurturing Parenting and how to implement and facilitate the Nurturing Parenting Program.
  • Be available 24/7/365 to conduct parent/child visits during the day, evening, and weekend hours to meet the needs of families.
  • Document on a Weekly Report form (DHS-1473) and report to the referring worker as part of the weekly reporting process each attempt to contact referred parent(s) and the results.
  • Skills and knowledge which embrace the philosophy, values and beliefs of the Nurturing Parenting model.
  • An understanding and commitment to the Nurturing Parenting model and intervention strategies is essential.
  • Experience and an understanding of the strengths-based and solution-focused approach to working with families.
  • Ability to assist families with meeting their basic needs and a commitment to ensuring the safety of children.
  • Prior to staff performing work, Orchards will conduct a Nation and State Sex Offender registry check.
  • An Internet Criminal History Access Tool (CHAT) check and National and State offender Registry, in accordance with the Volunteers of Children Act, including fingerprinting that must meet the Orchards Employee ICHAT/NCID Response Determination.
  • Central Registry documentation that he/she has not been named in a central registry case as a perpetrator of a child abuse or neglect.
  • Required to timely notify Human Resources in writing of any criminal convictions (felony or perpetrator) and/or pending felony charges or placement on the Central Registry as a perpetrator.
  • Required to sign a waiver attesting to the fact that they have never been convicted of a felony or identified as a perpetrator if they have the nature and recency of the felony.
  • Verification that employee is legally present to work in the United States using the E-Verify system (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis).
  • A Valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • A current copy (at the time of hire) of his/her driving record that must meet Orchard’s insurance underwriting criteria.
  • Personal insured vehicle in good running order is required for appointments with families and for use to transport the parent(s) and/or child(ren) to and from the location of the visit.
  • The ability to relate to local DHS personnel, the courts and other service providers on behalf of the family is essential.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias.

Responsibilities Services Delivery

  • Be available 24 hours a day seven days a week and 365 days a year.
  • Administer the Nurturing Skills Competency Scale Long version and/or The Nurturing Quiz for school Age Children and AAPI as a pre-test within 10 calendar days of receipt of the referral.
  • Administer the AAPI as a post test to parent(s) upon completion of the Supportive Visitation/In-Home Parent Education Program for the purpose of measuring the improvement of his/her knowledge relative to parenting and child development issues.
  • Schedule planning and debriefing sessions with the parent(s), for 30 to 60 minutes in duration, to begin within 48 hours prior to the parent/child visit start time or within 48 hours of the visit end time to provide visit planning, feedback and visit debriefing.
  • Utilize the Nurturing Parent education Curriculum to deliver parent education interventions.
  • During each visit, observe parent(s) interaction with the child(ren) and provide support, coaching, and intervention with the family when necessary to maximize the parent’s ability to guide their child(ren) to successful interaction.
  • Utilize the Nurturing Parenting materials and videos, role-playing, directed interactions, discussions, and/or modeling appropriate behaviors, to facilitate the parent education model.
  • Provide Court testimony if requested by the referring worker or parent(s).
  • Use solution focused interviewing techniques and positive empowering language in communications with the family and each other.

Case Records/Documentation

  • Complete a written initial family Assessment (DHS-1471) and Service Agreement (DHS-1472) with the parent(s) and submit the completed document to the referring worker within 30 calendar days of the date of the initial home visit.
  • Within 30 calendar days of the initial Home Visit, send a copy of the signed Service Agreement to the referring worker for their signature and agreement.
  • By the end of each week, send written Weekly reports (DHS-1473) to the referring worker briefly summarize the weekly participation of the parent(s) and progress towards goals.
  • Notify the referring worker within 3 calendar days of missed sessions.
  • Submit the Termination Report (DHS-1470) to the referring worker within 15 calendar days of the referred parent(s) completion of the program or at the time of case closure if the program is not completed.
  • Immediately report to DHHS any conditions or acts which are current or potential dangers to the child(ren) at 1-855-444-3911.
