Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of meals tailored to the dietary needs and preferences of senior residents, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste.
- Plan menus in collaboration with dietary staff, incorporating balanced nutrition and appealing flavors while adhering to dietary guidelines.
- Execute food preparation tasks such as poaching, braising, grilling, and food production to deliver consistent, flavorful dishes in high-volume settings.
- Follow strict food safety sanitizing procedures and food handling protocols to ensure a clean, safe kitchen environment at all times.
- Assist with catering functions and special events by preparing large quantities of food with precision and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of food inventory, storage conditions, and sanitation practices to support compliance with health regulations.
- Support the dietary department by assisting dietary aides with meal assembly and serving residents in a respectful, friendly manner.
Skills
- Extensive dietary department experience with knowledge of specialized nutritional requirements for seniors.
- Proven dietary aide experience with a strong understanding of meal preparation and food service operations.
- Skilled in menu planning, incorporating variety, nutrition, and resident preferences.
- Fine dining experience or restaurant background demonstrating high standards for food presentation and quality.
- Proficient in various cooking techniques including poaching, braising, grilling, and general food preparation methods.
- Strong knowledge of food safety management practices, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling techniques.
- Excellent knife skills combined with experience in high-volume production environments for efficient meal output.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail during food production and service.
- Experience in catering events or large-scale meal service within the food industry or hospitality sectors.
