What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) position at Orchard Mental Health Group?
Who We Are
Orchard Mental Health Group (OMHG) is a comprehensive, insurance-based behavioral health practice with 135 clinicians across multiple locations in Maryland and the DMV metro area. We provide therapy, psychological testing, and psychiatric medication management to patients across the lifespan. We are in-network with most major carriers.
The Role
We are adding a Registered Dietitian to our clinical team to bring nutrition services into our care model. The connection between mental health and nutrition is something our clinicians see daily, and our patients deserve integrated, whole-person care that addresses both.
As our dietitian, you’ll work alongside therapists, psychologists, and psychiatric providers as part of a true multidisciplinary team. Together, we’ll build this service line collaboratively: developing workflows, refining referral pathways, and learning what works best for our shared patient population. You’ll have a strong internal referral pipeline from day one and a team that’s genuinely invested in your success.
What You’ll Do
- Provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and evidence-based nutrition counseling to outpatients, billing insurance using appropriate CPT codes
- Coordinate care with OMHG’s behavioral health providers to support shared patients
- Help shape clinical protocols and documentation standards for nutrition services
- Counsel patients on conditions commonly seen alongside mental health diagnoses, including diabetes, GI issues, weight management, disordered eating, women’s issues, mental health and nutrition, and medication-related metabolic effects
- Develop patient education materials and contribute to quality improvement efforts
What You Bring
- Active RD or RDN credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
- Maryland Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) licensure, or eligibility to obtain
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) and CAQH ProView profile (or willingness to complete prior to start)
- 1 years of clinical experience, preferably in an outpatient setting
- Comfort working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
- Ability to work with clients across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to older adults
Note: This is an insurance-based position. The RD/RDN credential is required for credentialing with our contracted payers. Candidates holding only a CNS, health coach certification, or other non-RD credentials are not eligible for this role.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with behavioral health populations or in an integrated care setting
- Specialty certification such as CDCES
- Familiarity with MNT billing and coding (97802, 97803, 97804)
Compensation & Growth
This position is compensated on an hourly basis (W2 or 1099). We expect the role to begin part-time and ramp to full-time as your caseload builds through internal referrals. You’ll have continuing education support, a clear growth path, and the rare opportunity to build something new inside an established, growing organization.
