The professional Registration Clerk greets all patients in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner. Arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of outpatients. Ensures that accurate patient information is collected. Ensures that all incoming telephone calls are promptly and courteously answered and routed to the correct extension within the medical center. Greets all visitors to the clinic promptly and courteously. Participates in the upfront collection process of co-pays and deductibles.
Qualifications:-
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Computer Experience Preferred
- Must possess current driver's license
- Must possess BLS
Job Requirements:
- Greets arriving patients as they enter the lobby
- Responsible for obtaining all patients vital personal information as well as demographic information and billing information for each visit. Respects patient's rights of privacy and confidentiality while obtaining this information.
- Verify Medi-Cal eligibility for each visit.
- Treats all customers, whether patient, visitors, or other hospital employees, with respect, genuine caring concern, and with a desire to help.
- Responsible for answering all incoming calls.
- Responsible for various clerical procedures such as controlling the cash and ordering supplies.
- Responsible to ensure no violation in privacy with patient information/care.
- Responsible for ensuring patients are spoken to a minimum of every 15 minutes that they are in the lobby and providing updates as appropriate.
- Responsible for balancing petty cash drawer between each shift and maintaining appropriate documentation.
- Request co-payments for each visit.
- Page "patient waiting" each time you put a chart in the box after registration.
- Responsible for calling all patients on the schedule for the following day.
- Responsible for accuracy with the sign in sheet.
- Responsible for pre-registering patients with scheduled appointments for the following business day.
- Responsible for obtaining patient signature on the face sheet verifying correct demographic and insurance information upon patient arrival.
- Performs any other duties assigned by the department supervisor or director which falls within the scope of duties to ensure a smooth work flow.
