Front End Team Lead

This is a full-time, year-round position. Applicants must be available to work variable shifts as well as weekends and holidays.

POSITION SUMMARY

Works with the Customer Service Manager, supervises, administers, and coordinates activities of the Front End in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by Island Market.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the job duties of a cashier, this position also includes the following:

• Responsibilities include the daily opening and closing of the store as directed by management.
• Guides and directs co-workers in the development, promotion, and sale of the organization's products and services.
• Helps develop and maintain a sound plan for the department.
• Works with Customer Service Manager to develop procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow.
• Upholds operating policies consistent with Island Market policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
• Evaluates the results of overall department operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the manager.
• Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
• Prepares and supervises the daily work schedules, including lunch and break schedules.
• Issues written and oral instructions daily.
• Addresses errors and complaints of co-workers and/or customers.
• Assists others in performing duties.
• Meets with CSM regularly to coordinate activities.
• In absence of Manager, supervises employees at the Front End
• Train team members on proper cash handling techniques and ensure errors or anomalies in cash handling are reported to the CSM and/or Director of Finance
• Count the safe daily and note discrepancies in count.
• Approve overrides and voids and ensure accurate transactions.
• Follows all Island Market safety procedures.
• Performs any and all other assigned tasks.

• Ability to calculate discounts and percentages
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Self-starter and manage time wisely
• Organizing and planning
• Excellent proof-reading skills
• Good analytical & organizational skills
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal & written)

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and to lift objects of up to 50 lbs.

This position is eligible for Prime Time Pay. Prime Time Pay provides an additional $3/hour above the base rate for all hours worked Saturdays and Sundays and hours worked Monday through Friday between 6:00 pm and 3:00 am.
