Description

Location: Scott Depot, WV (Candidate will have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule but must reside within 50-miles of Scot Depot, WV)

Schedule: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt | Candidate will be expected to report to ORC's Scott Depot office at least 3-4 days a week

Travel: Candidate can expect to travel up to 50% of the time throughout West Virginia

What You’ll Do

  • Complete ORC’s structured right of way training program, learning the profession directly from experienced agents
  • Assist with acquiring right-of-way for roadway and other public infrastructure projects in accordance with project guidelines and regulations
  • Learn to apply the Uniform Act and the federal, state, and client requirements that govern public sector acquisition and relocation work
  • Support the Project Manager and project team members
  • Prepare real estate documents and maintain organized parcel files
  • Conduct property research for ownership and boundary information
  • Communicate with property owners and their representatives regarding right of way acquisition

Minimum Requirements

  • No prior right of way experience required — we’ll train you
  • Active West Virginia Notary OR the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite — specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • An iOS or Android smartphone to access ORC’s systems
  • Valid driver’s license

Bonus Points: If you have an active West Virginia Real Estate License

This is an entry-level training role — our front door into the right of way profession — and no prior industry experience is required. The pay range for this posting is $25.00 – $30.00/hr. Every candidate is assessed and evaluated during the hiring process to determine their level based on factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Your offer will reflect the level that best matches your experience.

As you complete ORC’s training program and build experience in the field, you’ll be positioned to grow into a Public Sector Agent role.

Relocation and per diem are not provided.

To avoid conflicts of interest, employees are prohibited from performing any services for clients or perceived clients during nonworking time that are normally performed by ORC, including the sale of real estate.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, it requires a combination of office-based and field work. Employees will spend prolonged periods sitting and performing computer-based tasks, including typing, data entry, and virtual communication, while also regularly traveling to landowner properties, project sites, and government facilities, some of which may be in rural or remote locations with limited accessibility. Driving is an essential function of the role and may involve extended periods and long-distance travel. Fieldwork may require walking over uneven terrain, standing, or navigating outdoor environments, with routine exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and snow. The role also involves frequent interaction with a diverse range of individuals, including landowners, government officials, and members of the public, requiring the ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism across differing personalities and potentially challenging situations. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to accommodate travel, site access, and stakeholder availability, along with adherence to safety protocols in both office and field settings.
