What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Success Coach position at Orbis Education?

JOB SUMMARY
Major responsibilities include academic success coaching and retention of enrolled healthcare students. The academic success coach interacts with healthcare faculty, professional staff, students, and other program personnel to enhance and facilitate the admission, progression, and graduation of students. In addition, the academic success coach strives to ensure the highest levels of student outcomes and sustained persistence measures are achieved.
PRIMARY JOB OBJECTIVES

  • Facilitates and Supports Student Progression
  • Manages Individualized Student Success Plans
  • Analyzes Data in Multiple Systems and Reports on Student Progression and Outcomes
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides academic, proactive, and developmental advising for all program students via in-person and/or electronic communication to promote academic success
  • Works with leadership to implement & maintain tracking systems for: academic monitoring and measurement, and graduate employment
  • Actively initiates and continues ongoing guidance to students whose grades, attendance, and/or personal factors put them academically at risk
  • Acts as a resource for student(s) in matters related to academic appeals, readmission requests, grievances, etc. affecting a student’s progress through the program
  • Communicates concerns in regard to student progress to the student, Academic Success Coach Manager/Director, and other key parties as identified for the partnership
  • Monitors progression in courses and ensures timely coordination of registration of selected courses
  • Regularly collaborates with the academic leadership as needed to provide status report and update student plan as needed
  • Works closely with the Academic Success Coach Manager/Director and other team members to ensure accurate, quality communication and service
  • Maintains an understanding of data that impacts student progression and outcomes
  • Track student persistence using the progression strength model which includes structured contact and intervention strategies
  • Document student interactions within FERPA compliance and update data points to ensure for data accuracy
  • Utilizes databases that support enrollment, progression, graduation, and career placement statistics
  • Participates in day to day advising and retention operations, general administration, and special projects (including but not limited to orientation workshops, student mentorship programs, and organizing study groups)
  • Maintains a professional working relationship with university partner(s) and demonstrates ability to adhere to boundaries as determined by leadership
  • Participate in day to day site operations activities, general administration and special projects as needed
  • Continues to develop professionally
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to assess a student’s concerns and recommend resources
  • High level written and oral communication skills to accurately present information persuasively, professionally and accurately to groups of people

  • Confidence, resilience, strong organizational skills, exceptional persistence, a high level of commitment, and the ability to guide and motivate others
  • Positive attitude, high level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Working knowledge of database and software packages to enter, track, report, analyze and maintain student information and available resources
  • Demonstrates accurate and consistent documentation
  • Receptive to coaching and ability to implement feedback
  • Professional and problem-solving approach to academic issues
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
  • Self-directed, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities on a daily basis
  • General knowledge of healthcare programs and career opportunities for graduates
  • Ability to maintain set office hours that include at least one evening per week, with the potential for occasional weekends
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Master’s degree in counseling or related field preferred.
Additional ongoing training, certifications, or seminar attendance desired.
Experience:
Student advising and/or counseling is preferred
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience working in a start-up environment or product launch preferred
