Job description

Orano, we’re not just powering the future—we’re engineering its foundation. As part of our groundbreaking uranium enrichment IKE Program, we’re redefining what a sustainable nuclear fuel production looks like for the next generation.

We're seeking a Licensing Engineer to support the IKE Program nuclear licensing and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing license applications and amendments, ensuring compliance with NRC, DOE, and DOT regulations.

You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with elite engineers and regulatory experts, moving fast, solving hard problems, and making decisions that have real-world consequences. If you're ready to lead at the edge of what's possible in nuclear technology, we want to talk.

Objectives:

  • Prepare and submit license applications, amendments, and renewals in accordance with NRC and/or DOE regulatory requirements (e.g., 10 CFR 70).
  • Support the preparation of License Application, Environmental Report, and Technical Justifications.
  • Interpret and apply federal regulations, regulatory guidance (NUREGs, RGs), industry codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI), and Orano policies to licensing actions.
  • Track, manage, and respond to Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) and ensure timely and technically sound submittals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, legal, and project management teams to ensure licensing alignment with design and operational activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in nuclear regulatory policy and assess their impact on Orano’s U.S. licensing strategy.
  • Support internal audits and assist with regulatory inspection readiness.
  • Ensure consistent documentation and traceability for all licensing activities and communications.

Our Full-Time Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance – with generous employer contributions
  • 401(k) with employer matching and contribution amounts
  • Life insurance and Short- and Long-Term Disability insurance provided by the company
  • Generous Paid Time Off and holiday schedules
  • Numerous Training and Development opportunities
  • and more…

Ideal qualifications

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Health Physics, or related technical field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in nuclear licensing or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with NRC/DOE regulations, especially related to spent nuclear fuel (SNF), transportation packaging, or interim storage systems.
  • Familiarity with the preparation of Safety Analysis Reports (SARs) and NRC licensing processes is essential.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
DOE Q Clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
    NQA-1 or related quality/regulatory training.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of NRC and DOE regulatory frameworks (e.g., 10 CFR 70 and applicable regulatory guides and standards).
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, compliant, and defensible licensing submissions.
  • Effective communication and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and document control platforms.
