Communications Intern
Orano USA is a leading supplier of nuclear fuel cycle solutions supporting the United States' nuclear energy mission and advanced reactor deployment.
Project IKE is Orano USA's multibilliondollar uranium enrichment facility under development in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, one of the largest private investments in the state's history.
The Communications Intern is a paid internship; your responsibilities will include supporting the development and implementation of communication strategies through writing, editing, community engagement, and media relations for a multi-billion-dollar facility that will help power America's nuclear energy independence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities below reflect the primary areas of contribution; specific assignments will depend on project priorities during the internship period.
- Assist corporate community engagement with local schools, colleges, universities, and regional municipalities.
- Attend public meetings relevant to Project IKE.
- Write and edit external communication materials, including press releases, articles, social media posts, presentations, talking points, and website content.
- Support and attend regional events involving Orano's Project IKE or corporate teams.
- Monitor and help manage the organization's public image.
- Assist with media relations, including outreach and responding to media inquiries.
- Ensure adherence to Orano's branding, messaging, image, and graphics requirements.
- Create and update internal communications content.
- Assess, compile and format actionable metrics.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Requirements

- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations, media studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience or coursework in at least two of the following areas: communications, public relations, media, journalism.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, technical information into clear and compelling narratives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to calmly manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Familiar with using artificial intelligence (AI) for communications tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Professional maturity and comfort working in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Requirements
- French language proficiency is a plus given Orano's French & American operational context.
- Demonstrated interest in nuclear energy, domestic energy policy, or large-scale capital project development.
- A considerable amount of creativity and initiative is expected.
