What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2026-2027 Area Transportation Supervisor position at Orangeburg County Schools?
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE Requires associate degree in business or high school/equivalency and verified experience in school bus transportation, two years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess valid South Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements. Job Knowledge: Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures, and policies of the Transportation Department as they pertain to the performance of duties of the Transportation Supervisor. Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Can ensure departmental compliance with all laws and regulations and control the activities of the department through effective supervision. Has thorough knowledge of the organization of the department and of related departments and agencies. Has considerable knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of Orangeburg County School District and other governmental agencies. Skills/Effort: Job requires the ability to supervise and manage personnel and resources; ability to communicate effectively with drivers, teachers, law enforcement officials, school administrators and parents. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment and field equipment/tools as needed. Working Conditions: Physical demands are restricted to occasional work requiring movement/lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Routine local travel required; occasional overnight travel required. Job requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and meeting deadlines. Orangeburg County School District is a smoke free district.
