Duties
- Deliver engaging classroom instruction on topics such as FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, traffic laws, and safe driving practices for commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, buses, and tankers
- Conduct hands-on behind-the-wheel training for various vehicle types, emphasizing manual transmission operation, air brake systems, and tractor-trailer maneuvering
- Assess student progress through practical evaluations and provide constructive feedback to enhance their driving skills and safety awareness
- Prepare training materials, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all training activities comply with federal and state regulations governing commercial driving and safety standards
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance evaluations, and certification progress
- Stay current with updates in FMCSA regulations, traffic laws, and industry best practices to deliver up-to-date instruction
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including tractor-trailer operations and bus driving with a strong understanding of manual transmissions and air brake systems
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and traffic laws applicable to commercial vehicles
- Prior experience in commercial driving instruction or adult education with classroom teaching skills
- Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts clearly and confidently to adult learners
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and training best practices in a professional setting
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for tanker, air brake systems, and passenger transport preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, professionalism, and continuous learning in the transportation industry
