Instructional Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructional Assistant to join our team at Orange County High. This full-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and committed to supporting teachers and students in a dynamic learning environment. The Instructional Assistant will work closely with educators to facilitate classroom activities, provide individualized support to students, and contribute to the overall success of our educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in the preparation and implementation of lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Support students in their learning by providing one-on-one or small group assistance in various subjects.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and encouragement to enhance learning outcomes.
• Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and participation.
• Collaborate with teachers to assess student needs and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, and recess to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Assist in the organization and management of classroom resources, materials, and equipment.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members regarding student progress and needs.
• Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when needed.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed academically and socially.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology and software.
• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in education is a plus.
• Must pass background checks and any required certifications for working with children in an educational setting.
