Special Event Security Officer (ARMED AND UNARMED PART-TIME/ON-CALL)
**MUST BE AVAILABLE BETWEEN MAY 20, 2026, AND JUNE 2, 2026, FOR WORK**
Orange County Public Safety is a community-based private security company, seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team. This part-time opportunity is an excellent way to supplement your income while working in a dynamic organization.
Position Overview:
Orange County Public Safety Special Event Security Officers play an integral role in providing security services and maintaining order at special events for our clients. This is an as-needed, on-call position requiring a professional appearance and presence, flexibility, and the ability to handle fluid job duties. Responsibilities include event access control, crowd management, incident response, and enforcement of safety protocols. Types of events include school events, graduation ceremonies, church events, carnivals/fairs, etc.
Event Access Control
- Conduct bag checks at entry points for prohibited item prevention
- Direct guests for efficient entry into and out of the premises
- Ensure only authorized individuals access restricted areas
Crowd Management
- Monitor guest behavior and proactively attend to potential issues
- Maintain crowd flow and enforce fire safety compliance
- Monitor entrances and exits, general event spaces, and restricted areas
- Maintain high visibility to deter disruptive behavior
Incident Response
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, including but not limited to disruptive behavior, unauthorized access, and medical emergencies
- Interface with event staff, law enforcement, and medical personnel, as needed
Safety/Emergency Protocol Enforcement
- Security policy and rule enforcement
- Prevent prohibited items on the premises
- Assist in evacuation and emergency response, as required
Qualifications
- Prior experience in security, customer service, or similar role preferred
- Valid BSIS California Guard Card required
- Valid Pepper Spray Certification required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Calm, professional demeanor
- Availability for evening, weekend, on-call shifts, depending on event schedules
- Current BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit (MUST BE 21 REQUIRED ONLY FOR ARMED POSITION)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DMV driving record check
- Ability to follow directions
- Ability to make decisions in stressful situations
- Ability to lift 50lbs at times
- Height/weight proportionate
- Must be able to possess and maintain a professional uniform presence
The following certifications are preferred but not required:
- Current Taser Training Certification
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Current First Aid certification (EMT/Paramedic supersedes this requirement)
- EMT/Paramedic
- SB1626
- SB390
- P.C. 832
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or other related fields
- Familiarity with security equipment
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Strong attention to detail
