Long Term Substitute - Science

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Long Term Substitute for the Science department at Orange County High. This position is designed for an educator who is committed to fostering a positive learning environment and engaging students in the wonders of science. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science education and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality science instruction to students in various grade levels, following the established curriculum and lesson plans.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
• Collaborate with other educators and staff to develop interdisciplinary lessons and support student learning.
• Maintain classroom management and discipline to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
• Adapt instruction and materials to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, or a related field preferred.
• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and principles across various disciplines preferred. (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate students in a classroom setting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
