Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Field Services Division is responsible for the inspection, testing, regulatory compliance, operation, and maintenance of over 4,800 miles of pipeline, over 11,000 fire hydrants, and 870 wastewater pump stations.
The Field Services Division is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Utilities Services Specialist on the Construction Inspection Team.
Job Description
General Functions
Performs responsible utilities work associated with handling of customers and municipalities. Responsible for answering program hotline calls and/or field visits to customers. Investigates and resolves field problems. Researches, compiles and analyzes data for use in reports and meetings. Based on area of responsibility may be responsible for schools presentations for the program specified by the department. Programs could include recycling, mandatory refuse, water conservation or water reuse. Work requires independent judgment under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
Representative Duties/Assignments
Duties may vary based on area of assignment.
- This position is with the Construction Management within Field Services Division.
- The position performs responsible utilities work associated with handling of customers and municipalities.
- Creates operational support work orders using Maximo, coordinates with staff to support customer related construction and connections.
- Performs Quality Control/Quality Assurance on project management systems such as LDMS and eBuilder from field inspection activities. Performs specific tasks or processes within project management systems as assigned.
- Responsible for answering calls and/or field visits from customers to support utilities record documents and project closeout procedures.
- Research, compiles and analyzes data for use in reports and meetings. Work requires independent judgment under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
- Performs Quality Control/Quality Assurance reviews for Record Documents, job folder documentation and project management requirements with each of the respective assigned Inspectors.
- Field work for the purposes of Quality Control/Quality Assurance may be required.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation with an Associate degree and two (2) years of experience in utilities related experience in utilities infrastructure support; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
May require a valid Florida Driver's License with in six months of hire. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferences
- Ability to read, review, and interpret construction as-built drawings, asset tables, and deflection tables.
- Understanding of LDMS, Utilities construction plans, and Utilities GIS.
- Understanding of Utilities Walk Through process and year end warranty process.
- Understanding of the Utilities close out process for project completion.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee in this role may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department. Such assignments may be for before or after an emergency/disaster.
