The Facilities Management Division is seeking two highly qualified Trades Technician IV candidates for our Downtown District (Orlando) and West District (West of I-4/Disney World area). The Trades Technician IV position exercises independent judgment and technical expertise in performing highly skilled, journeyman level work maintaining, installing, altering, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Job Description
General Functions:
This key position performs highly skilled multi-trades technical work specializing in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), locksmithing, carpentry, masonry, lighting, audio, telecommunications, building, grounds and landscaping maintenance, and other building systems and services. Interacts on a regular basis with staff, clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure highest level of service and work quality. May lead or supervise lower-level technicians or crew.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Technical Operations Supervisor or other designated supervisor. Performance is evaluated based on guidance provided to team members, quality of completed work, and achievement of operational goals.
Representative Duties/Assignments:
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in skilled trades, event services, facility maintenance, or other technical services. Completion of trade school, relevant licensure, or certification may substitute for up to one (1) year of required experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education or experience may be substituted.
Depending on the area of assignment, must possess and maintain valid licenses and/or certifications:
Florida Driver¿s License
Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) Rigging Certification
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Certification
Backflow Prevention License
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant License
Journeyman/Master Plumber License
Journeyman/Master Electrician License
Preferences:
Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems.
Applicants with knowledge of building maintenance in a multi-trade environment on facilities, buildings and building systems.
Candidate must be willing to be sent on maintenance calls and assist other skilled trades¿ personnel when needed.
Applicants with a High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Writing, communication, and entry level computer skills.
Ability to work flexible hours to include weekends, holidays, shifts, standby and after-hours due to operational requirements.

- Performs the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.
- Provides expertise for wiring electrical systems, repairing, and maintaining electrical panels, lighting fixtures, and systems, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment.
- Performs general building inspections to ensure electronic equipment or systems are meeting critical operation factors.
- Checks emergency power supply for life safety systems; operates systems on emergency power and periodically assist in testing emergency power sources under load.
- Using a variety of tools, test and calibration equipment applies accepted maintenance, service, and repair procedures to maintain or return item to proper operation conditions.
- Checks and maintains assigned facility, equipment, or system for preventive maintenance and critical operation factors.
- Consults with trade specific employees and/or supervisor on special maintenance and repair problems.
- Performs service and repairs on a wide variety of equipment.
- Multi-trade assignments and responsibilities based on daily operational needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
