The Orange County Animal Services Department has an opening for a Program Manager.
An employee of this class is primarily responsible for the management of the Animal Services volunteer program, foster and transfer of shelter animals, community outreach and special events including, but not limited to, off-site adoption events, rabies clinics, and the low cost spay and neuter voucher program.
Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Animal Services Director, with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client needs and requests. Supervision of assigned staff and volunteers is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in any field of study and three (3) years of experience in volunteer management or animal services program management; OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A higher degree does not substitute for experience.
Previous experience making group presentations is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must be able to work after work hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
All offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and fitness test. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
In accordance with Section 28 of the Orange County Code of Ordinances, and/or relevant State and Federal statutes, candidates for employment may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check based on the job responsibilities of the position. A fingerprinting check is conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and a criminal history background check is conducted by an authorized Federal or State regulatory agency to determine eligibility for appointment. Employment is contingent upon successful clearance through these checks, which are mandated for certain roles depending on the nature of the job and applicable laws.
Further, all offers of employment are contingent upon the satisfactory verification of your eligibility for employment, successful completion of the required pre-employment testing and/or screening, including drug testing when required and the submission and approval of all new hire documentation completion of your new hire paperwork.
