The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. Job Summary
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is looking for a sharp and detail-oriented Short-Term Workflow Developer. This professional will provide technical configuration, requirements gathering, testing, and district-specific support to maintain project momentum and reduce implementation risk. This temporary role ensures that onboarding workflows are deployed consistently and correctly without impacting existing OCDE operational commitments as our new Employee Onboarding application is implemented. Key Responsibilities: • Join the Analysts to conduct requirements gathering sessions with district HR, Payroll, and IT teams. • Analyze current state onboarding processes and map them to future state workflows. • Configure onboarding workflows, routing logic, approval chains, and conditional rules. • Build and refine onboarding forms, including field validation and user experience optimization. • Perform data mapping, troubleshoot data inconsistencies, and support integration needs. • Develop and execute test plans; coordinate UAT with district staff. • Document workflow configurations, process changes, and district specific variations. • Provide hands on support during rollout, including issue resolution and workflow adjustments. • Prepare training materials, quick guides, and walkthroughs for district users. • Track tasks, risks, and milestones across all four districts to ensure timely delivery.

Qualifying Technical Skills: • Proficient in configuring HR onboarding workflows, forms, and routing logic. • Strong understanding of HRIS systems and cross module data flows. • Skilled in requirements gathering, documentation, and translating District needs into system configuration. • Proficient in SQL for querying, validating, and troubleshooting onboarding related data. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), including advanced Excel functions. • Experience with data mapping, imports/exports, and integration touchpoints. • Ability to perform system testing, UAT coordination, and issue resolution. • Familiarity with data privacy, secure handling of employee information, and workflow permissions. Qualifying Professional Skills: • Strong communication skills for working with HR, Payroll, IT, and District leadership. • Ability to manage multiple district timelines and competing priorities. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Customer service mindset with the ability to support district staff through onboarding transitions.
