Job Overview OCCA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our special education team. In this vital role, you will assess, plan, and implement therapy following a child's IEP. We value an Occupational Therapist who can collaborate and bring their expertise, creativity, and ideas to our growing program. Role/ Responsibilities: -Under the supervision of the Special Education Director; work closely with the entire SPED team to create effective plans to support the individual needs of our students. -Providing high quality occupational therapy to students who have OT on their IEP -The Occupational Therapist addresses functional, academic and developmental skills. -The OT should have knowledge and skill to focus on fine motor,self-care abilities, motor planning/ideation, executive functioning, and sensory processing (experience within all of these targeted areas preferred) -Tracking service minutes on provided log, scheduling services and rescheduling as needed -Collecting data/ progress monitoring to produce updates on progress reports (objectives) submitted quarterly -Writing IEPs:: Writing updates/progress on goals, proposing new goals/ objectives, proposing services & accommodations (IEPs are completed on SEIS- Special Education Information System- knowledge of this site is not mandatory but desired) -Collaborating with team including the parents, teachers, special education team/ service providers, casemangers, paraprofessionals & SPED director -Attending IEP meetings (for students on your caseload) and providing input during IEP meetings (IEP meetings can include: Annuals, Re-Evaluation/Triennials, Amendments, Initials, Transitions, 30-day meetings, etc.) -Evaluating- Using standardized testing: for initials and re-evaluations -Writing reports based on evaluations to summarize findings and make proposals -Communicating with SPED team regularly / providing support, brainstorming, and planning (regular scheduled check ins)
Requirements / Qualifications
License from the local Board of Occupational therapy and certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapist (NBCOT)
