Position Title: Campus Monitor
Site: Reporting To: Director of Operations
Certificated Or Classified Exempt Or Non-Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Campus Monitor observes and supports students during lunch and passing breaks to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment conducive to student interaction and learning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises students during lunch / recess and passing periods, including enforcing school rules, school boundaries, and school behavior expectations
- Ensures a safe environment in the lunch room, school grounds and/or parking lot
- Works with other school staff to ensure sufficient level of supervision coverage in all areas of the lunch room, school yards, and/or parking lot
- Helps mediate and resolve conflicts between students
- Administers first aid as needed
- Helps keep the campus clean
- Identifies any major security or safety hazards and major repair needs in the recess area and ensures safety rules are followed
- Completes accident reports as needed
- Manage Computer Logs
- Demonstrate knowledge of, and support of OCCA’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving ability; good judgment
- Ability to interact appropriately with children of different ages
Minimum educational level:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience required:
- Experience observing and supervising K-12 students helpful
Physical requirements and Work environment:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds (cones, tables, equipment, supplies, etc.).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the school day.
- Frequent movement across campus, including indoor classrooms, hallways, parking lots, playgrounds, and athletic areas.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, light rain).
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Ability to maintain alertness and awareness throughout the shift.
- Work may involve exposure to moderate noise levels (recess, lunch, traffic areas).
- Must be able to visually and audibly monitor student activity across campus.
- Occasional attendance at after-school events, athletics, or special programs may be required.
