Job summary
The Extrusion Supervisor is responsible for Coordinating and Supervising all Extrusion personnel and activities on a production shift. This includes producing the plastic film/sheet, according to the production schedule, and to plan ahead to prepare for upcoming jobs to ensure all Raw Materials, Tooling, Equipment, and Documentation are properly prepared.
The Extrusion Supervisor must be a team player and work effectively with all departments in order to ensure that a quality product is produced.
Essential functions
Safe operation of all Orafol manufacturing equipment.
Certified to drive and operate Orafol Fork Trucks within the Plant.
Understand and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Comply with all OSHA regulations and Company Policies.
Supervise and direct all shift personnel, to execute tasks required to conform to the Production Schedule.
Coordinate activities of the Operators. Reassign or cover manning for absences, vacations, breaks, etc.
Responsible to coordinate coverage for any scheduled weekend or holiday work. The Supervisor is also responsible to monitor their Operators during weekend and holiday coverage.
Promote safety awareness. Verify compliance of all safety rules and use of PPE.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment. The Supervisor must take a leadership role to continue improving the plant appearance and environment.
Coordinate the training of new Operators and/or Operators that need retraining. Initiate cross training on multiple lines and allow for proper job rotation to maximize Operator flexibility. This is necessary to meet a dynamic production schedule and to cover vacancies.
Verify that the materials being produced adhere to the Master Set up sheets and they meet Product Quality Specifications.
Verify adherence of Company Procedures and Policy's. Review/audit documentation: All paperwork submitted by the Operators should be accurate and complete.
Promote a team environment and coordinate with the other Shift Supervisors to plan, communicate, and cooperate for smooth shift transitions. The incoming shift should be planned, prepared, organized, and set up to run efficiently.
Manage the efficient use of operating supplies and reorder when necessary.
Minimize downtime and expedite changeovers to maximize "Saved Hours % Time".
Conduct performance reviews and maintain training records on all subordinates.
Utilize resources in a way that minimizes cost and maximizes productivity.
Perform duties and responsibilities with a sense of purpose, professionalism and attention to detail.
Complete special projects and assignments that are not specific to this outline but as required and directed by supervisor.

POSITION requirements
Education Requirements:
- College Degree: AS Degree in a Technical Discipline
- Individuals without a Degree can be considered if their work experience and qualifications match the content of this job description.
Work Experience:
- 3-5 yrs. Supervisory Experience in a Manufacturing environment preferably in Plastics Processing.
