Position Overview

The Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) works closely with Patient Services, Client Services, and Clinic Services to help ensure our hospitalized patients receive exceptional care throughout their stay. This role is central to providing a smooth, compassionate experience for both patients and their families by coordinating visitation, preparing patients for discharge, and serving as a liaison between departments.

The ideal candidate is even-tempered, able to multitask in a busy medical environment, and has a solid working knowledge of veterinary care. This is a highly interactive, client-facing role that requires excellent communication skills and the ability to balance multiple requests with professionalism and empathy.

Key Responsibilities

Patient & Client Coordination

• Manage visitation schedules for hospitalized patients, ensuring a positive and efficient experience
• Prepare patients for discharge, including gathering belongings, medications, food, and instructions
• Assist with routine nursing care, husbandry, and nutritional needs of critical or post-operative patients
• Recognize emergent patient needs and notify clinical staff appropriately
• Advocate for patient and client needs while maintaining flow and safety

Nursing Care Support

• Maintain familiarity with medical procedures, drugs, and hospital protocols
• Develop working knowledge of critical care, surgical nursing, and physical therapy procedures
• Refer to Oradell’s Standards of Care to ensure consistency and high-quality service

Communication & Collaboration

• Maintain awareness of hospital policies and ensure smooth shift operations
• Coordinate with Patient Services, Client Services, and clinical teams for seamless releases and visits
• Track resources and tools used to organize visits and discharges (whiteboards, paperwork, logs)
• Communicate concerns or positive feedback to the shift supervisor
• Suggest department improvements and participate in the ongoing enhancement of Patient Care Services
• Train assigned individuals as directed by leadership

Requirements

• Strong interest in emergency and critical care
• Associate’s degree preferred/encouraged
• Articulate communicator with strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Compassionate, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Flexible availability, including weekends, nights, and overnights
• Ability to meet the physical and emotional demands of veterinary medicine (standing, lifting, client interactions, critical patient exposure)

Drug test and background check are required.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
