Software Developer 3 - Senior Member of Technical Staff

Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer (IC3), you will design, implement, and operate core components of our streaming infrastructure—ensuring scalability, resiliency, and low latency across distributed environments. You’ll gain hands-on experience with full lifecycle development, from design and deployment to observability and production support.

We’re looking for engineers who are passionate about building efficient systems and learning how to operate them at scale. You should bring strong programming skills, curiosity to dive deep into distributed systems, ability to troubleshoot and a mindset focused on continuous improvement. Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain features and services for our streaming platform, meeting production-scale goals for performance, latency, and durability.
• Participate in the complete software lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
• Debug and resolve production issues while improving observability, instrumentation, and operational maturity.
• Contribute to reliability and automation initiatives, including tooling, CI/CD, configuration management, and process optimization.
  
  
  

Who You Are

• 5 years of hands-on software development experience in distributed systems, platforms, or cloud services.
• Proficient in at least one major programming language (Java, Go, Python, or similar), with a record of shipping production-ready code.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts—streaming ingestion and delivery, fault tolerance, partitioning, and observability.
• Comfortable analyzing trade-offs between latency, throughput, and resource utilization, and optimizing for performance at scale.
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to interpret logs, metrics, and telemetry to identify root causes.
• Collaborative communicator who thrives in cross-functional teams, values feedback, and contributes to shared technical excellence.
  
  
  

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and large-scale streaming systems.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, pub/sub models, or time-series semantics.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing).

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 - $178,100 per year. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
