Principal Hardware/Software Quality Engineer

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Hardware Development team designs and builds mission-critical, ultra-high-performance, integrated compute and storage systems with sophisticated embedded software and advanced management services (ILOM, UEFI). You will be an integral part of a team that spearheads the development of innovative testing methodologies to validate the robustness of our platforms, conducts meticulous root-cause analysis of failures, and collaborates closely with development partners to implement corrective actions. US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Responsibilities:

 

• Required:  Must be based locally and willing to commute to the Burlington, Massachusetts campus. 
• Collaborate closely with the Quality Engineering team to design, develop, and maintain automated test cases and test suites
• Regularly maintain and update existing test cases and suites to accommodate platform enhancements and changes. 
• Stay up-to-date with changes in technology and hardware to create effective test cases. 
• Execute test suites on platforms under test, analyze test failures, identify and report code and platform bugs, and update tests accordingly. 
• Release cycles are short; the ideal candidate must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment where rapid turnaround is crucial to success.
   

Skills Required and Preferred: 

 

• Required:  Experience with either rack servers, compute storage, PCIe devices, and lab networking
• Required:  Experience with Linux or Linux System Administration. 
• Required:  Proven experience in developing automated tests using Python. 
• Preferred: In-depth understanding of various Quality Assurance testing methodologies, including functional and regression testing. 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively report and drive bug resolution to closure. 
• Experience working with distributed teams across multiple geographies and groups. 
• Highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
