This is an opportunity to solve foundational distributed-systems, developer-platform, and reliability problems with broad impact across OCI. We are hiring Senior Principal engineers and leaders who are excited by large-scale cloud infrastructure, deployment orchestration, operational automation, and building trustworthy systems. You will help shape a new team and create the platforms that enable OCI engineers to deploy and operate services confidently at unprecedented scale.

Leads the architecture of highly scalable, resilient distributed systems and mentors engineering teams. Drives performance optimization, elasticity, data-plane innovation, fault tolerance, and SLO-based reliability. Establishes advanced observability, correctness, replication, and operational standards while leading complex incident resolution and RCAs. Architects security, compliance, IaC, and automated change-management solutions for safe, reliable cloud operations at scale.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $146,300 to $306,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.


Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Responsibilities:

Below are the key responsibilities:

System Design & Architecture

  • Lead and mentor the architecture of highly scalable, elastic, interdependent distributed systems.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks, define scalability requirements, and optimize systems for hyperscale workloads.
  • Drive innovation in distributed state management and data-plane platforms.
  • Architect fault-tolerant systems using advanced redundancy, replication, failover, and resilience mechanisms.
  • Establish SLO-based standards for availability, durability, and reliability.
  • Define KPIs and advanced telemetry, dashboards, and alerting for complex systems.
  • Apply formal verification techniques such as TLA and develop advanced replication and synchronization strategies.

Operational Excellence

  • Provide technical leadership for complex production issues, incident response, and root cause analysis.
  • Establish operational readiness and SOP standards across systems and partners.
  • Design strategies for in-service maintenance and upgrades with minimal customer impact.

Security & Compliance

  • Architect advanced security controls for multi-tenant environments and lead vulnerability remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and guide documentation across projects.

Automation & Change Management

  • Develop and oversee enterprise-level IaC and automation strategies.
  • Drive automated, reliable patching, upgrades, and rollbacks across interdependent systems.
