Department:   Mountain Vista Campus

Reports To: Principal

Salary:  Starts at $15.00 /hour and increases depending on experience.

SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of certificated staff members to perform a wide variety of duties such as assisting in an instructional setting, in routine clerical tasks, and in the supervision of non-classroom activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Assist a certified teacher in preparing instructional materials as requested.
2. Assist with clerical tasks: copying, laminating, typing, record keeping, etc.
3. Assist students individually and in groups with lessons or computer instruction.
4. Assist in administering, scoring, and recording diagnostic, achievement, and classroom tests.
5. Assist with breakfast/lunch as directed.
6. Works with students in a “time out” situation.
7. Perform duty assignments as scheduled by the Principal or teacher.
8. Alert the teacher to any problems or special information about individual students.
9. Assist with the supervision of children while the teacher is in or out of the classroom.
10. Maintain confidentiality of information about students.
11. Provide a positive role model for children.
12. Assist and provide direction for substitute teacher when the teacher is absent.
13. Arrive to class and duties on time.
14. Notify the teacher and office before a planned absence.
15. Read and/or review materials/information as requested by the teacher.
16. Demonstrate satisfactory work habits and attitudes.
17. Follow rules, policies and procedures as adopted by the Governing Board.
18. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATION:

     1. High School graduate, 2 years post-secondary education or Associate Degree or completion of proficiency test.  Ability to communicate and work well with students, staff, parents and the public

SCOPE AND SALARY:    

195 day position as an at-will hourly employee based on the support staff salary schedule, with holidays and benefits according to district policy.
