Oracle is seeking a Power Generation Technician/Operator to join our Data Center Facilities Engineering Team. This technician will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of power generation systems—including diesel and gas generators and associated electrical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in power generation systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and a deep understanding of electrical safety protocols in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair tasks on power generation systems such as diesel/gas generators, UPS units, switchgear, and related electrical infrastructure.
- Operate, monitor, and test emergency power systems during routine checks and actual power events to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Use digital facility management systems to process and complete maintenance tasks efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and inspection reports related to power generation equipment.
- Conduct visual and technical inspections to identify system deficiencies, abnormal conditions, or safety hazards.
- Escalate operational or equipment issues promptly to facility leadership to ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure strict compliance with all electrical safety codes, environmental regulations, and internal standards.
- Participate in 24/7 shift coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as part of the rotating operations team.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of preventative and predictive maintenance programs for power systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in operating, maintaining, or repairing power generation systems.
- Ability to work at heights and safely use ladders and elevated platforms.
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Capability to work in confined spaces and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in mission-critical power generation environments.
- Certification or licensure in electrical systems, power generation, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of generator systems, including fuel, cooling, and control components.
- Familiarity with monitoring systems for power generation and distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as NFPA 110, NEC, or IEEE related to power generation.
