Job Duties
Orabase Solutions, LLC in McKinney, TX is seeking Oracle Database Administrators to implement, upgrade, test and administer Oracle database systems. Individuals will apply advanced theoretical knowledge of database management systems, as well as experience with Oracle database software, to perform the duties of the position. Responsibilities and key duties include:
Confirm project requirements by studying user requirements; conferring with others on project team.
Determine changes in physical database by studying project requirements; identifying database characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method.
Modify, enhance and upgrade database systems by coding database descriptions.
Develop access systems specifying user level of access in order to ensure security and protection for the database.
Perform patching and upgrading to Oracle DBMS and Grid Infrastructure.
Maintain user reference by writing and rewriting database descriptions, and maintain data dictionary by revising and entering definitions.
Troubleshoot malfunctions to ensure operation of equipment and complete preventive maintenance requirements; call for repairs when needed.
Remain updated on new (Oracle) and emerging technologies and evaluate new equipment and techniques for use in projects.
Minimum Requirements
THIS POSITION DOES NOT SUPERVISE ANY OTHER PERSONNEL.
The normal requirements for the offered position are as follows: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Applications, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, or any related Information Technology field of study, plus at least one (1) year of experience in the job offered or in any related positions involving Oracle database administration. Qualified candidates must also have experience and demonstrable knowledge and proficiency with the following:
Oracle Database
SQL, MySQL or PLSQL
Data Warehousing including Oracle Warehouse Builder
One or more of the following: Win Runner, Load Runner or Quality Center
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and performance Packs.
Experience setting up agents on remote sites and configuring alerts and notifications.
Oracle RAC 8. Experience setting up backups executing RMAN backups using Third party tape mgt systems.
No travel; no telecommuting. Position is project-based at long-term projects at various unanticipated client sites within the U.S., and relocation may be required at the end of each long-term project.
