Job Summary:
The Payroll Processing Associate is responsible for supporting payroll operations by processing manual check requests and working within payroll systems to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. This role involves communicating with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll data, and supporting payroll activities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This position requires flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate. Training on payroll systems and internal applications will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Process manual payroll check requests using payroll systems.
- Utilize Time & Labor applications and other internal web-based platforms.
- Communicate with internal departments and external contacts regarding payroll-related matters.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive payroll information.
- Analyze payroll documentation and interpret payroll-related statements from management.
- Perform accurate data entry with minimal errors.
- Operate a 10-key calculator efficiently for payroll calculations.
- Support payroll processing for both union and non-union wage plans (training provided).
- Adapt to changing work schedules, overtime, weekends, and holiday work as required.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, and urgent work environment.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, dependability, and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
Required Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling payroll information.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Access (primarily for data entry)
- Keyboarding/typing with minimal errors
- 10-key calculator
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Flexibility to work outside scheduled hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous payroll experience (preferred but not required).
Pay: $18.80 per hour
