About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven early-career professional looking to build a long-term career in business development within financial services. We are seeking an individual who is confident, highly personable, and enjoys building relationships. Prior experience in the funds industry is not required; however, candidates should ideally have 1 to 2 years of experience in a sales, business development, or client-facing role.
A key aspect of the role will be developing and maintaining a strong network within the New York investment funds community through industry events, conferences, and social media engagement. The successful candidate will become an active ambassador for the Opus brand and play a meaningful role in generating new business opportunities.

Through effective networking, strong communication, and proactive use of social media, they will help strengthen the Opus brand, build valuable industry relationships, and contribute to the generation of new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Management
- Identify and engage prospective fund manager clients across alternative asset classes.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of industry contacts within the New York funds market.
- Represent Opus at conferences, networking events, seminars, and client meetings.
- Support business development initiatives through outreach, referrals, and relationship-building activities.
- Assist in building and maintaining a qualified pipeline of prospective opportunities.
Social Media & Market Presence
- Use LinkedIn and other social media platforms to engage with the investment management community and enhance Opus' market profile.
- Build meaningful connections with fund managers, industry professionals, and key market participants.
- Support the promotion of thought leadership, events, and company updates through digital channels.
- Monitor industry developments and identify opportunities for engagement and business growth.
Market Research & Sales Support
- Track emerging managers, fundraising activity, and new fund launches.
- Conduct research on prospective clients and industry trends.
- Maintain CRM records and business development activity.
- Assist with presentations, proposals, and client-facing materials.
- Provide support to senior members of the business development team as required.
Key Qualifications & Competencies
Essential
- 1 to 2 years' experience in sales, business development, recruiting, client services, or another relationship-driven role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage senior professionals.
- A natural networker who enjoys meeting new people and developing professional relationships.
- Active and proficient user of LinkedIn and social media for professional networking and engagement.
- Professional, polished, and highly presentable.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and commercially minded.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Desirable
- Experience within financial services, technology, professional services, or another B2B environment.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Interest in alternative investments, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, or investment management
