Position Purpose
The FNMA Due Diligence Underwriter is responsible for conducting post-close credit reviews utilizing the client’s loan operating system. This role involves a comprehensive evaluation of credit, property, legal documentation, and limited regulatory compliance elements to ensure loan quality and adherence to guidelines.
Ideal Candidates
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience underwriting AUS loans and possess in-depth knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines. Familiarity with Fannie Mae’s loan origination system is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate strong proficiency in conducting complex income analyses, particularly involving multiple (REO) properties.

Full-time employment (FTE) may be offered to candidates who demonstrate the ability to contribute immediately and make a meaningful impact from day one.
Candidates who meet our baseline qualifications but require onboarding support will begin as 1099 contractors. These individuals will participate in our training program and have the opportunity to prove their capabilities during an initial evaluation period. Those who are successful may be offered FTE status after 90 days.

Education, Experience, and Job Skills:
- Some College preferred or prior work experience equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years mortgage industry experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience underwriting residential mortgage loans.
- Minimum 2 years of mortgage due diligence underwriting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines.
- Experience working directly in Fannie Mae’s loan origination system is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and ask for assistance / escalate when needed.
- Able to work constructively under stress and pressure and perform tasks efficiently.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and new processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions based on objectivebased facts.
- Proficient in basic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft
- Knowledge and experience with AUS reports, manual underwriting, and
- General knowledge of mortgage industry regulatory requirements.
- Confidence performing complex income analysis with multiple businesses
