Title: Investment Director (PE VP/ Principal equivalent)

Location: Boston, MA

Start Date: Q 1 2027

Family Overview:

The family traces its origins to the late 19th and early 20th centuries and one of early Hong Kong’s most influential community leaders. Their wealth was established through the patriarch's extensive business and financial enterprises, spanning trading, finance, and real estate in Hong Kong and Shanghai. The patriarch played an important part in Hong Kong’s emergence as a global commercial center.

The fourth generation of the family is continuing this legacy guided by the values of integrity, respect, and thoughtful stewardship. The family invests globally, through our client's Family Office, with a value oriented and patient approach. The family’s long commitment to philanthropy is served through its Family Foundation, focused on the well-being of humanity and the environment.

Team Overview:

Previously managed through an OCIO structure, our client, a Boston based Single Family Office, today has been building an extraordinary in-house investment team with a highly reputable CIO at the helm. They employ an endowment-style approach to investing and partner with external investment managers to access the most attractive investments globally. Their work entails underwriting both these managers and the assets in their portfolios. All investment team members are generalists, but personal sector interests are encouraged. Working closely with the family’s investment advisory committee as a resource, the investment team has full discretion over investment decisions. This is a vibrant and growing team with an amazing and supportive culture that values highly inquisitive intellect, collaborative dialogue and a mentoring environment. They strive to be nimble in the pursuit of exceptional investment opportunities and in the support of world-class investment partners.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Director will work closely with colleagues participating in all aspects of the family’s portfolio management, including

  • Monitoring existing investment managers
  • Identifying and evaluating new opportunities
  • Analyzing portfolio performance and risk data
  • Contributing to portfolio construction and research
  • Building the family and team's brand as exceptional partners
  • Developing relationships, in the direct and allocator investment community

Investment staff members will travel domestically and internationally to evaluate new and evolving opportunity sets, meet managers, and visit companies. This role will lead diligence processes and make investment recommendations, work that entails both rigorous analytics and creative thinking.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of relevant investment experience in PE, VC, an institutional LP family office or endowment
  • Familiarity with the private markets landscape, particularly Venture and lower middle market PE is a plus
  • Intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in investing and financial markets
  • The highest level of integrity, honesty, and a strong sense of fiduciary duty
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility across internal and external relationships
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed

The current team size is approximately 6 investment professionals and requires each member to possess a nimble, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to tackle novel challenges. Successful hires will have long-term career progression opportunities.
