Title: Investment Associate
Location: Boston Metro

Foundation Overview: Founded in 1950, the University of Massachusetts Foundation is an independent nonprofit and trusted steward of UMass endowments for more than 75 years. Its mission is to foster and promote the growth, progress, and general welfare of the University of Massachusetts. The Foundation professionally invests, manages, and distributes donor contributions to drive growth and progress at the University. Each year, the endowment distributes millions of dollars for student scholarships, faculty teaching and research, and other vital educational programs and initiatives.
Group & Role:
The candidate will join a small, collaborative team within the Foundation’s Investment Office and serve as an integral contributor to the management of approximately $2.5 billion in assets across a diversified, multi-asset portfolio.
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Officer will work closely with colleagues to support all aspects of endowment management, including:
- monitoring existing investment managers
- identifying and evaluating new opportunities
- analyzing portfolio performance and risk data
- contributing to portfolio construction and research
The role offers broad exposure across asset classes and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the Foundation’s objective of generating superior, risk-adjusted returns for the endowment.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of relevant post-graduate experience in investment management, consulting, banking or a related field
- Intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated interest in investing and financial markets
- The highest level of integrity, honesty, and a strong sense of fiduciary duty
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines independently
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build credibility across internal and external relationships
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
