Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care, assisting with procedures, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Knowledge in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry will be considered a plus.
Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during various dental procedures including restorations, extractions, and endodontic treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history prior to procedures
- Operate medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners when applicable
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all equipment is properly sterilized according to OSHA standards
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and assisting with billing or coding as needed
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow using four-handed dentistry techniques
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental assisting procedures
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical coding is advantageous
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols in a healthcare environment
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is preferred but not required; willingness to work with pediatric patients is essential
- Certification in chairside assisting or equivalent training preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for managing medical documentation and records
- Ability to work effectively within a team using four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient care
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients and coordinate with staff effectively
