What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Co-Director & Reproductive Health SME (Consultant) position at OPUA?
We are seeking two practicing clinical leaders—a Female Clinical Co-Director and a Male Clinical Co-Director—to join our team as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for a statewide clinical training and capacity-building program with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Sexual and Reproductive Health Program (SRHP).
This high-impact consulting role is designed for practicing clinicians (MD, DO, DNP, CNM, or APRN) who are passionate about reproductive justice, health equity, and supporting safety-net healthcare providers across Massachusetts. Our agency manages all administrative, instructional design, technology, and reporting burdens, allowing you to focus purely on clinical accuracy, curriculum oversight, and high-level provider consultation.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Governance & Curriculum Review: Review and approve training modules, toolkits, and continuing education (CME/CNE) materials to ensure strict alignment with current CDC guidelines, Title X standards, and MDPH SRHP Program Standards.
- Statewide Clinical Instruction: Co-design and co-facilitate quarterly virtual Clinical Grand Rounds and occasional regional hands-on workshops for multidisciplinary safety-net teams (physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives, nurses, and counselors).
- Tier 3 Technical Assistance (TA): Provide expert clinical case consultations to SRHP-funded health centers across Massachusetts regarding complex contraceptive care, STI management algorithms, adolescent confidentiality, and trauma-informed care.
- Health Equity Leadership: Integrate reproductive justice frameworks, trauma-informed pelvic care, and strategies to reduce maternal/reproductive health disparities into statewide training frameworks.
Candidate Qualifications & Credentials
- Active Massachusetts Clinical License: Unencumbered MD, DO, DNP, CNM, or APRN license in Massachusetts.
- Clinical Specialty: Active practice in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Family Medicine, Adolescent Medicine, or Community Health / Infectious Disease.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated clinical expertise in at least two of the following areas:
- Complex contraceptive counseling & LARC insertion/management.
- STI screening, diagnosis, and treatment algorithms (including expedited partner therapy).
- HIV biomedical prevention (PrEP/PEP) integration into primary care.
- Adolescent sexual health & confidentiality rights under Massachusetts law.
- Gender-affirming care & male reproductive health.
- Perinatal/maternal health equity and trauma-informed clinical care.
- Teaching / CME Experience: Prior experience facilitating CME/CNE courses, presenting at grand rounds, or serving as clinical faculty is highly preferred.
- Diversity & Practice Ownership (Preferred): Clinicians who own/operate a clinical practice, professional corporation (PC), or consulting LLC—especially those certified or eligible for certification as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Women Business Enterprise (WBE) through the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office (SDO)—are strongly encouraged to apply.
Pre-Award & Post-Award Expectations
- Pre-Award (Proposal Phase): Provide an updated CV/biosketch and sign a formal Letter of Commitment to be included in our state proposal submission. (Pre-award effort is minimal and uncompensated).
- Post-Award (Contract Execution): 5–10 hours/month of compensated, flexible consulting work starting upon contract award by MDPH.
* This position is contingent upon contract award. Hiring and start date are subject to final award notification for the Massachusetts Sexual Reproduction Health Training Program.
