About the Role
Join our client as a Mechanical Engineer and lead innovative material handling and automation projects for industry-leading clients. You'll take ownership of complex engineering initiatives from concept through implementation, designing cutting-edge conveyor systems and automation solutions that transform distribution and fulfillment operations.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership
- Lead and support multiple projects through Integrated Detail Design (IDD) and Implementation phases
- Manage complete project lifecycle including RFP/supplier selection, detailed design, equipment procurement, and installation support
- Own engineering budgets, schedules, and deliverables while ensuring on-time, under-budget implementation
- Provide proactive communication and status updates to clients and internal stakeholders
Technical Design & Engineering
- Create detailed conveyor and automation designs using AutoCAD, DCdesigner, and DCconceptor (client's proprietary 3D tools)
- Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), installation drawing packages, and technical specifications
- Calculate conveyor point loads and design header steel layouts
- Lead design reviews, quality control processes, and client design approvals
- Conduct site visits to validate field dimensions and support installation efforts
Collaboration & Innovation
- Partner with Project Managers, Site Managers, and cross-functional teams throughout project delivery
- Evaluate trade-offs between design alternatives to optimize solutions while maintaining business case
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and architects
- Support commissioning, testing, go-live, and project closeout activities
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering 7 years of experience
- OR Associate degree in Engineering 10 years of experience
- OR High School Diploma 15 years of relevant experience
- 3 years of hands-on AutoCAD experience (must-have)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Experience designing material handling equipment and automation systems for distribution centers
- Proven ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and multiple suppliers
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to travel 10-20% domestically and internationally (valid passport required)
Preferred Qualifications
- AutoCAD 3D experience
- Knowledge of DCconceptor/DCdesigner
- Supply chain logistics or distribution operations background
- Project management training or certification
- Consulting experience
Salary : $45 - $55
