Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls, texts, and patient inquiries
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information
- Check patients in and out for appointments
- Collect copays, balances, and payments
- Obtain and process patient forms and required documentation
- Coordinate communication between patients, doctors, technicians, optical staff, and billing
- Manage appointment recalls and patient follow-up communications
- Assist with insurance eligibility verification and benefit inquiries
- Respond appropriately to urgent patient concerns and route medical calls according to office protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Assist with scanning, filing, faxing, and other administrative tasks
- Support daily front office operations and maintain a clean, organized reception area
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient patient flow and exceptional customer service
- Adhere to HIPAA and all patient confidentiality requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the practice
